The Rabong Gompa is centuries of years old. The 130 feet high statue of Buddha at the park is the main attraction. The monastery is also called the Bonpo Monastery and Bon Yung Dung Monastery. This is the only non – Buddhist monastery in Sikkim. The monastery was first established by the late Yung Dung Tsultrim in 1980 CE. This monastery also facilitates the education of young students belonging to less privileged families. The Bon faith flourished in Tibet up to the 8th century AD, before the advent of Buddhism. This is one of the top places to visit in Ravangla. It has a lot of religious significance. The footprint of Khangchendzonga’s Horse and Lama Dorje Lingpa has been preserved here. It has been permanently installed along the inner walls of the monastery. There are also images of Manjushri, Vajra Pani, and Dorje Lingpa. This is a good spot for trekking.
